"You know what really grinds my gears? Olympic reporting.
I know you remember me complaining about them last time and how all they wanted was a feelgood story about how much that Australian dude Dale Begg-Smith misses Canada. WELL GET READY FOR PART 2. This time he stated in a press conference before competition that he would refuse any media unless Australian, at least until after the event. Of course the media still felt insulted when he just walked by them. SO anyways, yesterday I watched pretty much all of the Men's Mogul/Freestyle event, even the qualification round cause I just love that event (it's the only one I can really remember from last time) The Canadians were fucking solid, which made it all the better. I also sat through the feel-good story about the brotherhood between 3 of them and the "Rick Hansen's Difference-makers" (or whatever it's called) about Bilodeau.
Well if you didn't hear by now Bilodeau won Canada's ever-precious, first gold on home soil (don't get me wrong the moment was just about tear-jerking, even for me) DBG got silver and an American got bronze. At the flower ceremony, Bilodeau was on top of the world (obviously), the American (who only qualified for the Olympics as a stand-in at an event) had a huge smile planted on his face, and DBG looked unemotional. You can only imagine what I thought while reading some idiots' comments today. Ohhhh even the American was happy just to have a bronze and enjoy the moment and all that crap. Mr.Silver Medalist was the defending Olympic champion and was expected to pull off another. Of course he wasn't happy with less than a gold. He was disappointed, probably wanted to cry. Whatever, he's a millionaire and/because he lives in Australia.
Not a solid post, I'd say, but I have major studying to do (even skipping class as I speak) I didn't exactly spend my weekend getting shit done..
PS. Bilodeau is on my cereal box beside one of those stupid go for gold slogans. Kick ass!"
